NFL Week 2 Recap (So Far)

Week 2 Recap (so far): Big kicks, big plays, and a couple big problems brewing.

Another NFL Sunday in the books, and Week 2 wasted no time delivering drama. We got overtime kicks from another planet, a Super Bowl rematch with a twist, and a reminder that Lamar Jackson can casually torch a defense whenever he feels like it. Let’s run through the biggest games of the day.

Cowboys 40, Giants 37 (OT)

Dallas and New York traded haymakers until Brandon Aubrey stole the show, tying the game with a 64-yard bomb before hitting the OT winner. Russell Wilson looked like he turned back the clocks to his SB days, but it wasn’t enough in a WILD 4th quarter/OT period.

  • Wild Finish: Five go-ahead TDs in the final 12 minutes of the 4th quarter
  • Brandon Aubrey: 64-yard game-tying FG + 46-yard OT winner
  • Russell Wilson: 450 yards, 3 TDs in a losing effort
  • Malik Nabers: 167 yards, 2 TDs

Eagles 20, Chiefs 17

In a gritty Super Bowl rematch, Philly’s defense made the difference, capped by a rookie sealing the game in crunch time. The Chiefs, shockingly, drop to 0-2 under Patrick Mahomes for the first time.

  • Andrew Mukuba: Clutch end-zone interception off a Kelce bobble
  • Jalen Hurts: Quiet passing day (101 yards); Late TD run, steadying the offense
  • Saquon Barkley: 88 rushing yards and 1 TD

Ravens 41, Browns 17

Baltimore came out swinging, with Lamar lighting up Cleveland’s defense and the Ravens’ D adding insult with scores of their own. The Browns looked completely outclassed.

  • Lamar Jackson: 4 passing TDs
  • Ravens’ Defense: Fumble return TD
  • Cleveland Browns: 0-2 start, turnovers fueling struggles

49ers 26, Saints 21

San Francisco fought through injuries and leaned on depth to survive. With stars sidelined, Christian McCaffrey carried the offense while Mac Jones did the most with his opportunity in Shanahan’s offense.

  • Christian McCaffrey: 107 total yards and 1 TD
  • Mac Jones: 279 yards and 3 TDs; Fumbled twice (lost one)
  • 49ers Defense: Timely stops despite missing key starters

Bills 30, Jets 10

Buffalo flexed balance on both sides of the ball, controlling from the start and never letting the Jets breathe. Both QBs took a beating in this one; Allen shook off a bloody nose, and Fields left the game with a concussion in the 4th quarter.

  • James Cook: 132 yards rushing and 2 TDs
  • Bills’ Defense: 4 sacks and allowed 154 yards, absolutely smothered the Jets offense
  • Buffalo Offense: 400+ yards for the second consecutive game

Seahawks 31, Steelers 17

Seattle leaned on a complete team effort, with special teams delivering the dagger in the second half. Pittsburgh couldn’t recover once the tide turned. Their defense is raising some serious questions, along with Tomlin’s decision-making.

  • Kenneth Walker III: 105 yards rushing and 1 TD
  • Aaron Rodgers: 2 INTs and only 54% completion for the day
  • Pittsburgh Defense: Allowed 390+ yards in each of their first 2 games; 29th in scoring defense
